Indoor Softball 2016/7

Autumn League

We hope to have a Tigers team playing in the Tuesday evening Indoor League. All games are played at the Soccer Dome in Trafford Park (M17 8DD) from 7 to 9pm. Rumour has it the league will start on 4th October. Cost per person is £6 a week.

Sunday Indoor

Each winter the MSL run "turn up and play" indoor sessions on Sunday afternoons at Platt Lane Dome (M14 7UU) from 3pm to 5pm. The first session this winter will be in mid October. Given the format there's no Tigers team as such but a number of us go along regularly to the sessions. The sessions cost £5 a week (first session free).

Indoor rules changes

Each batter receives only one pitch - if it's a strike or foul ball the batter is out, if it's a ball the batter gets a walk. Teams bat for a set amount of time rather than for a set number of outs. If a batted ball hits the roof the batter is out and the ball is dead. Scoring systems vary and other rule changes also vary by venue (see below).

Pitch layout

Indoor Softball is played on a much smaller pitch than the outdoor version and that means a different pitch layout. The layout varies by venue, in Manchester the layout on a Tuesday is different from that on a Sunday. At either venue a ball that hits the ceiling is dead and the batter is out. A ball that hits the floor is either fair or foul, a ball that hits a wall on the full may be a Home Run, Out, or Play On (Tuesday only).
